Therapists around the world rely heavily on receiving tips for the treatments they give. If you eat out, have your shoes shined or are helped in a hotel we are expected to offer a tip for great service. In Europe and the US tipping at 20%-30% is considered normal irrespective of the service delivered.
Locally we are not so well versed in the practice however. Therapists spend significant hours on their feet. They offer their knowledge, skills and attitude as a way of facilitating your relaxation. They give of themselves, and tipping this effort should be commonplace. So the next time you sleep through a massage, or leave the spa feeling awesome, make sure you do the same for your therapist and leave them a healthy tip.
