During a pregnancy we know your body becomes sore and strained. For the lucky few who breeze through their pregnancies they are both fortunate and in the minority. The restless sleep and occasional heartburn does not make getting comfortable easy. The beauty of pregnancy should never mean that you can’t enjoy a massage, there some guidelines though on how to keep you and your bundle of joy safe and happy.

In the event that you are within you first trimester avoid massage is to be avoided. If this is your first or a high risk pregnancy, even though a sore back is uncomfortable rather avoid the treat or get the all clear from your gynae. have your therapist use light to medium pressures. Do not use the following essential oils: Basil, Cedarwood, Clary, Coriander, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper, Marjoram, Oregano, Myrrh, Peppermint (which should also be avoided while breast feeding), Rockrose, Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme.

Lastly any nausea should keep you aware from massage, this is no time to push through it!
